Iran insists it obtained drone images of Israel

Iran insisted on Wednesday that it had obtained images of sensitive areas of Israel from a Hezbollah drone before it was shot down, despite the Jewish state questioning if the aircraft carried a camera.

L'Iran dit détenir une technologie avancée en matière de drones

Téhéran possède des drones dont la technologie est "bien plus avancée" que celle de l'aéronef envoyé au début du mois par le groupe chiite libanais Hezbollah dans l'espace aérien israélien, a déclaré dimanche le ministre iranien de la Défense.
L'appareil a été détruit par les forces israéliennes à proximité de la Cisjordanie après avoir survolé le territoire de l'Etat hébreu sur 55 kilomètres.
"La République islamique d'Iran dispose actuellement d'aéronefs sans pilote dont la technologie est bien plus avancée que celle du drone récemment envoyé par le Hezbollah", a affirmé Ahmad Vahidi à l'agence iranienne Mehr.
Le Hezbollah, soutenu par Téhéran, a précisé après l'envoi du drone que certaines composantes étaient de conception iranienne, même si l'appareil a été fabriqué au Liban.

Iran Sets up New Navy Base in Strait of Hormuz

MOSCOW, November 4 (RIA Novosti) - Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has established a new naval base in the Strait of Hormuz, the export route for around 25 percent of the world's crude oil, the Fars news agency said on Sunday.



The base, the fifth in the region, is located near Iran's southern port city of Bandar Lengeh in the Hormozgan province, some 1,100 km (700 miles) south of the capital Tehran.

IRGC Navy Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi said the zone of operations would cover an area from Qeshm island and Naze'aat Islands region to the western waters of the Kish island.

"The fifth naval zone was started to provide operational coverage for the Naze'aat Islands, bring about a turning point and start a new trend in the region," the agency quoted Fadavi as saying at the opening ceremony.

Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz at the end of the Persian Gulf in response to any attack from outside. Iran’s largest naval bases are at the head of the Gulf, around 450 kilometers from the strait, which is just 45 kilometers wide at its narrowest point.

Iran unveils new weird flying machine: a tilt-wing vertical takeoff and landing “ultra-advanced” drone November 8, 2012

According to the Ettelaat newspaper published on Nov. 8, 2012, the “first vertical takeoff drone in the world” with the name of Koker 1 (Koker is the name of a beautiful bird) was successfully flight-tested and about to be officially unveiled next month at island of Kish.

The tilt-wing unmanned aircraft is equipped with four noise-reduced engines and reportedly features some ultra-advanced technology as multidirectional radars, long-range optics, satellite communication devices, radar evasive devices.

It will be capable of travelling in day and night with 3 hours of continuous flight time up to 170 Km radius up to 12,000 ft, and will also be solar powered.

The drone is developed by the research team of Saman communication group from the state of Mazandaran which previously developed the “Likoo” drone.

Koker 1 will be displayed in the air show scheduled for Dec. 11-14 at Kish Island.


Obviously, it is not the first VTOL drone in the world. Nor is it the only tilt-wing robot being tested or operated: NASA and other less famous companies have been developing unmanned aircraft with tilting wings since some years.

On Oct. 14 Iran announced new combat drone capable of carrying missiles for air defense missions whereas in September, Tehran unveiled the new “Shahed 129″ a new UCAV (unmanned combat aerial vehicle) largely based on the Israeli Hermes 450 model.

Téhéran coupera court à toute tentative de violer l'espace aérien de la République islamique, a affirmé vendredi le chef adjoint de l'état-major des forces armées iraniennes, le général de brigade Massoud Jazayeri, suite à l'incident ayant impliqué un drone américain dans le Golfe.
"Si un appareil étranger tente de pénétrer dans notre espace aérien, nos forces armées s'en chargeront", a déclaré le général, cité par la chaîne de télévision Press TV.
Et d'ajouter que les militaires iraniens répondraient sans hésitation à toute agression aérienne, terrestre ou maritime.
C'est ainsi que le général Jazayeri a répondu à l'affirmation du porte-parole du Pentagone George Little, selon lequel un drone Predator avait été attaqué le 1er novembre dernier par des avions de chasse iraniens dans l'espace aérien international au-dessus du Golfe.
M.Little a mis en garde Téhéran, en prévenant que les Etats-Unis disposaient d'un grand nombre d'options, de la diplomatie à l'action militaire, pour protéger ses navires et aéronefs.

MOSCOW, November 13 (RIA Novosti) – Iran has unveiled a domestically designed and manufactured hovercraft capable of launching missiles and aerial drones, the Iranian media reported.

The hovercraft, dubbed Tondar (Thundebolt), was unveiled on Monday during an official ceremony at the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas as part of large-scale military exercises that started over the weekend in eastern Iran.

“Mass production of this hovercraft will considerably boost the operational capability of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy,” Iranian state-owned news network Press TV quoted Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi as saying at the ceremony.

The minister said that the vessel could be used for coastal patrols, offensive reconnaissance, military transport and sea-rescue missions.

The inauguration of the amphibious assault vessel comes amid escalating tensions between the Islamic Republic and the West over Tehran’s controversial nuclear program.

U.S., other Western powers and Israel suspect Iran of seeking to build nuclear weapons. Iran denies this, saying its program is civilian in nature.

Washington and Tel Aviv have not ruled out the possibility of striking Iran's nuclear facilities.

The Iranian leaders have repeatedly stated that the country was ready to defend itself against any potential attack.

Iran has been emphasizing its ability to attain self-sufficiency in defense and produce important weapon systems domestically for nearly two decades, manufacturing its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles, aerial drones, submarines, and even fighter jets.

Iran : Deux nouveaux missiles dévoilés (13/11/2012)

L’Iran a dévoilé mardi de nouveaux missiles et pièces d’artillerie au deuxième jour de vastes manœuvres militaires dans l’est de son territoire. Chef des forces aériennes iraniennes, Farzad Esmaili a déclaré que ces trois nouvelles armes allaient considérablement renforcer les capacités de défense de la République islamique.

“Le système de missile de basse altitude ‘Ya Zahra 3′ est entièrement iranien et il a été conçu et fabriqué pour répondre à des besoins internes”, a-t-il dit, cité par l’agence de presse Isna. Le deuxième système de missiles, baptisé “Qader”, est extrêmement mobile et peut être déployé en moins d’une demi-heure tandis que les nouvelles pièces d’artillerie, appelées “Safat”, peuvent échapper aux radars ennemis, a-t-il ajouté.

Les experts occidentaux soupçonnent l’Iran d’exagérer régulièrement ses capacités militaires, même si ses missiles de longue portée suscitent leur inquiétude. Les responsables iraniens ont menacé de frapper Israël et les bases militaires américaines dans la région si l’Etat juif bombardait les installations nucléaires de l’Iran.
