Russian Helicopters Delivers Mi-171E to Kazakhstan

Russian Helicopters, a subsidiary of Oboronprom, part of Rostec State Corporation, has delivered a Mi-171E built at the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant to the Kazakhstan Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Ministry uses Mi-8/17s for routine patrolling and search-and-rescue missions, and for transporting personnel and cargo.

The Mi-171E has a number of features that give it an edge in Kazakhstan’s extremes of climate – temperatures can range from plus 50 to minus 58 degrees Celsius – and geography, marked by extensive steppe and tall mountain ranges. The helicopter can operate across localities from steppe to foothills to mountains, and can withstand temperatures from plus to minus 50. The Mi-171E can operate in all weathers and difficult navigation conditions.

The Ministry chose the Mi-171E for its flexibility – the helicopter can carry up to 26 passengers or 12 wounded people on stretchers accompanied by medical personnel. In its cargo configuration the helicopter can carry loads of up to 4,000 kg in its cabin or on an external sling. The Mi-171E is fitted with a Safir 5K/G Mi auxiliary power plant and VK-2500-03 engines that support operations at high altitude and turbulent air conditions. Helicopters of this type have a long list of optional extras to extend their operational possibilities. Under Russian Helicopters’ contract with the Ministry, Kazakh pilots and technical crew will be given theoretical and practical training at the Ulan-Ude plant.

Thanks to the Mi-171E’s competitive edge, its advanced flight capabilities, reliability and ease of operation, as well as its attractive price point, the Kazakhstan Ministry of Internal Affairs plans to expand its fleet of Russian-built helicopters in the future.

Russia and Kazakhstan have been working together on helicopter operations for several years. The Kazakhstan Emergencies Ministry makes active use of the Mi-171E and attests to its outstanding qualities.

The Mi-8/17 series are among the world’s most effective rescue helicopters. They are widely deployed to help deal with flooding, earthquakes and other disasters including forest fires around the world, and to provide emergency medical assistance in the field.

The Mi-171E is one of the latest versions of the Mi-8/17. It has been developed by the Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant and is built at the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, both of which are Russian Helicopters companies. Today more than 4,500 Mi-8/17 series helicopters are in operation around the world.

Russian Helicopters, JSC is a subsidiary of UIC Oboronprom, which in turn is a part of State Corporation Rostec. It is one of the global leaders in helicopter production and the only helicopter design and production powerhouse in Russia. Russian Helicopters is headquartered in Moscow. Russian Helicopters was established in 2007. In 2012 its IFRS revenues increased 21% to RUB 125,7billion. Deliveries reached 290 helicopters.

Additional Airbus Military C295 Aircraft for Kazakhstan

Image

Airbus Military has signed a contract with Kazspecexport, a State Company belonging to the Ministry of Defence of Kazakhstan, to supply two C295 military transport aircraft plus the related service support package for spare parts and ground support equipment.

This order is implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed in 2012 between the Ministry of Defence of Kazakhstan and Airbus Military for the procurement of eight C295s in total and on the basis of which two C295s were already delivered in 2013.

The first two C295s are already in service with the Kazakhstan Air Forces and the third and fourth are planned for delivery in 2014 and 2015 respectively. With regards to the remaining four aircraft in the MoU, a delivery schedule will be defined over the coming years.

“Airbus Military is very proud that the Kazakhstan Ministry of Defense is placing a repeat order for the C295, confirming its confidence in the aircraft’s capabilities and cost-efficiency as well as in our company. We are proud of the relationship that has been created with Kazspecexport and the Ministry of Defence and congratulate the teams of both institutions on their professionalism in the process. We will keep striving to ensure that we live up to this mark of confidence and stand by our customer for many years to come,” said Antonio Rodriguez Barberan, Head Of Commercial, Airbus Military.

The new generation C295 is the ideal aircraft for defence and civic missions to the benefit of society, such as humanitarian actions, homeland security, and environmental surveillance. Thanks to its robustness and reliability, simple systems, and optimal cabin, this medium sized tactical airlifter provides wide versatility and flexibility, necessary for personnel, troop and bulky/palletized cargo transportation, casualty evacuation, communication and logistic duties, and air-dropping.

Its flexible design, long endurance and modern systems have made it an outstanding platform for a wide range of ISR roles including anti-submarine and ship warfare, airborne early warning, and maritime surveillance.

The C295 is part of Airbus Military’s family of light and medium airlifters which also includes the smaller NC212i and CN235 platforms. In the fourth quarter of 2014 Airbus Military will introduce the C295W, featuring as standard winglets and higher engine power ratings, giving increased performance in all flight phases and lower fuel burn.

Kazakhstan to produce a full range of military vehicles with Paramount Group of South Africa.

Kazakhstan launched a project Wednesday in the Kazakh capital of Astana to produce specialized vehicles, including vehicles for military uses, with South Africa' s Paramount Group, said Kazakh Defense Minister Adilbek Dzhaksybekov.

Paramount Group Land Systems offer a world-class family of armoured and mine protected vehicles, state-of the-art camp systems, force protection and logistics support.

The two sides will cooperate in building a production facility with a manufacturing capacity of 120 to 360 specialized military and non-military vehicles, according to a press release from the Kazakh Defense Ministry. The production facility is expected to start operation by 2015.

The project brings together National Company Kazakhstan Engineering, Kazakhsstan Engineering Distributino and South African-based Paramount Group. The three parties signed an agreement in November this year on the production of military vehicles and maintenance.

The Defense Ministry said Kazakhstan's domestic components will make up 50 percent of the project. The specialised vehicles due to be produced are of top quality and test runs had completed in Kazakhstan in mid-2013.

Paramount Group is a major private company in Africa specializing in defense and security innovation and delivering integrated solutions for defense, internal security and peacekeeping forces across the world.

National Company Kazakhstan Engineering, part of National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna, is in charge of controlling financial, industrial and technical activities of Kazakhstan's major military producers.

La Russie livrera des missiles S-300 au Kazakhstan
ht
